What’s On At Royal & Derngate: Week Commencing 22 June

The Royal & Derngate is set to welcome audiences for a vibrant and diverse programme of live entertainment across the week commencing Monday 22 June, featuring music legends, dance spectaculars, inspiring true stories and bold new theatre.

From high-energy musical celebrations to thought-provoking comedy and community showcases, the venue continues to offer something for every taste and interest.

Kicking off the week on Tuesday 23 June is Jukebox Idols, a nostalgic celebration of the musical icons of the 1950s and 60s. Featuring The Overtones alongside Strictly Come Dancing professionals Nadiya Bychkova and Louis Smith, the show promises an uplifting evening of song, dance and classic hits.

Also on Tuesday, audiences can join An Evening With Ben Cohen MBE (pictured), the Rugby World Cup winner and mental health advocate, as he shares insights from his life, career and ongoing work as an inspirational public figure.

On Wednesday 24 June, Jah Makin It Happen: A Reggae Musical brings a powerful and uplifting story of a Jamaican family adapting to life in the UK during the Windrush era, told through vibrant reggae music and comedy.

Friday 26 June sees the arrival of Kai Evolution, a dynamic dance production from Strictly Come Dancing star Kai Widdrington, charting his journey from young competitor to BBC dance favourite.

Also opening on Friday is La Grande Façade (running 26–27 June), a brand-new musical created by the Royal & Derngate Theatre Front of House team, showcasing singing, dancing, acrobatics and operatic flair.

The weekend continues with Dancing Schools UK on Saturday 27 June, the Grand Final of a national ballroom and Latin dance competition inspiring young performers across the region.

On Sunday 28 June, comedian Alfie Moore presents Acopalypse Now, a sharp and humorous take on modern global challenges, from crime and politics to culture wars and cost of living pressures.

The week concludes with Mayhew School of Dance (28–29 June), returning to the Derngate stage to celebrate friendship, movement and performance through dance.
