What’s On At Royal & Derngate: Week Commencing 29th June

Royal & Derngate continues its packed summer programme with a fantastic mix of local talent, inspiring performances and special guest appearances throughout late June and early July.

Kicking things off on Sunday 28 and Monday 29 June is the eagerly anticipated return of the Mayhew School of Dance & Performing Arts. Taking to the Derngate stage, talented performers will present a heartwarming show celebrating the friendships formed through music, dance and performance. Audiences can expect an uplifting production filled with energy, creativity and passion from students of all ages.

Motorsport fans are in for a treat on Friday 3 July when Formula One legend Nigel Mansell CBE visits Royal & Derngate for an exclusive evening of conversation and entertainment. One of Britain’s most celebrated racing drivers, Mansell will share fascinating stories from his remarkable career, offering audiences a unique insight into life at the very top of international motorsport.

The same weekend also sees the Royal & Derngate Young Company present The Resistible Rise of Arturo Ui on Friday 3 and Saturday 4 July. This powerful adaptation of Bertolt Brecht’s classic political satire, reimagined by acclaimed playwright Bruce Norris, explores themes of power, populism and extremism in a modern context. The production promises to be both thought-provoking and highly relevant.

On Saturday 4 July, Top Hat Theatre School takes centre stage with West End vs Broadway, an exciting end-of-year showcase featuring talented performers aged three to eighteen. Packed with well-loved songs and spectacular dance routines, the production celebrates the very best of musical theatre from both sides of the Atlantic.

Rounding off the week on Sunday 5 July is NMPAT Generations, where Northamptonshire Music and Performing Arts Trust presents its annual end-of-year showcase. Featuring junior and training ensembles, the event highlights the incredible musical talent being nurtured across the county and provides a fitting celebration of another successful year.
